Camping

Registration is on first-come first-served basis! Contact the Medicine Man for complete information on campout registration policy.

Bring adequate clothing appropriate for the time of the year/weather forecasts. See Smoke Signals for any special items to bring and/or what will be provided. At some campouts, our Longhouse provides snacks Friday and/or Saturday nights. Coordinate with your tribe members regarding what to bring as far as large items such as grills, etc. in order to avoid duplication.

General items to bring: Extra Clothing, boots, 2nd pair of shoes, jacket or sweater, ponchos, vests/headdress/etc.

Cooking Equipment: Coffee pot, matches, wood, saw/hatchet, grill, charcoal lighter, skewers, cooler, pop, canteen, snack food (hot dogs, burgers,chips etc., paper cups, plates, towels. folding table

Toiletries: Toothbrush/paste, comb, washcloth/towels, soap, razor, sunscreen

Miscellaneous: Flashlight, torch & rag (for the Saturday night torch march), bug repellent, lawn chairs, rope, clothespins, first aid kit, sleeping bag/pillow, sports equipment, camera/film, plastic bags, game.

Also: patience, cooperation, imagination

DO NOT bring: Alarm clock, TV, radio, alcoholic beverages, fireworks, grumpy dads.

Camp Fitch, North Springfield, PA (drive time is less than 1.5 hours)
Take Rt. 90 East into Pennsylvania to Rt. 215 (second exit in Pennsylvania). Turn left onto Rt. 215 North. After you pass Rt. 5 look for signs directing you to Camp Fitch.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTH
Take 1-77 south to Arlington Road exit. Turn right (south) on Arlington Road and continue straight. You'll cross over 619 and go past where road veers to left and becomes Greensburg Road. Stay straight, keeping to the right on Arlington Road (south). Soon you come to Mt. Pleasant Road (at the bottom of the hill). You will see a sign with an arrow indicating camp is to the right. Turn right onto Mt. Pleasant Road. Camp entrance is located on the right, well-marked with a sign.
DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH:
Take 1-77 north to Arlington Road. Turn left (south) on Arlington and follow directions above.
DIRECTIONS FROM THE EAST
Take 1-76 west to 1-77 south to Arlington Road. Turn right (south) on Arlington Road and follow directions above.
DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTHWEST
Take 1-71 - * north to 1-76, then * east to 1-77, and * south to Arlington Road and follow directions above.
