Winter Campout
Once again, CVNSND will be heading South for the winter (only 45 minutes) for the first campout of the 2012 year.
Our Winter Campout will be held at Camp Y-Noah Friday 1/20- Sunday 1/22.
New Friday Night Event:
Following the chili contest (around 8:00 PM), there will be a Family game night in the main lodge. Be sure to bring your child’s favorite board games to play.
Weekend activities include:
winter hiking, BB guns, archery, horseback riding, and crafts. As always, hope for snow for some fantastic sledding. Special activities for Saturday include: “Christmas at Camp Y-Noah”, torch march, bonfire, and skits. As always, we expect Seven Cubs will have a spectacular Native American story to share with us as well. Pathfinders are also invited to attend the 2012 Winter Campout. Please indicate “Pathfinder” in the tribe location on the registration form.
With the addition of Pathfinders, many fathers will have more than 1 child at the campout. Please indicate which child the father would prefer to stay with. If possible, it may be arranged so both children are able to stay with their father (this may mean that a Pathfinder is grouped with their younger siblings tribe). If the child is able to spend the night without their father in the same cabin, please indicate so on the registration form and put possible friends/former tribe mates that would make them feel more comfortable without their Dad in the same cabin. Every effort will be made to fill as many requests as possible.
Each child is encouraged to bring their own sled with their name clearly written on it. For SAFETY REASONS, Camp Y-Noah prohibits METAL RUNNER SLEDS. Directions: I-77 South to exit 120 (Arlington Rd – approx. 30 miles from Route 82). South on Arlington Rd. approx 6 miles. Right on Mt. Pleasant Rd. Right into Camp Y-Noah (approx ½ mile from Arlington Rd)
2012 Annual CVNSND Camp Y-Noah Chili Cookoff:
Once again, we’ll start off the winter campout with our annual Friday night Chili Cookoff. Last year there was an impressive showing from all tribes ranging from sweet-hot, as well as a fair share of exotic meats The goal is to have at least 1 entry per tribe. All entries need to be in the dining hall by 7 pm in your own crock pot so it has time to warm and the judges have enough time to sample all the entries. Prizes will be awarded. If your chili is extra spicy/hot, please mark it as “HOT” so people know what to expect. In addition, we plan on having the Grilled Cheese station up and running.
Christmas at Camp Y-Noah:
Dads, here’s an excuse to get the decorations out of your yard before Easter!!! Bring them to the Winter Campout and decorate the outside of your cabin for judging on Saturday night. A specially designed patch will go to all residents of the most remarkable cabin that were involved in the decorating. Don’t forget your extension cords.
